Elmdon
Choral Society was founded by its conductor and musical director, Stephen
Davis, in April 1978. The first concert took place in July of that year and
consisted of a performance of Fauré Requiem and a
selection of anthems, accompanied on the organ by John Butt. The choir
originally comprised around 20 members, which over the years rose to 60 and
now stands at 35. Based at St. Nicolas Church Elmdon,
the choir regularly performs at this and other venues in the area. Elmdon Choral Society has a wide repertoire ranging from Bach to the Beatles and beyond, and includes a number of premieres by local composers such as Martin Bates and Chris Davis |
